Ghost Browser is a Chromium-based browser built around identities. An identity is a separate session with its own cookie jar. You can open tabs from different identities side by side in one window, and each identity stays logged in to its own accounts.

Cookies keep the sessions apart, but they do not hide your IP address. If ten identities share one IP, the sites you use can still link them. Giving every identity its own proxy fixes that. This guide shows how to do it with FonProxy.

Before you start

You need three things:

  • Ghost Browser installed, with access to the Ghost Proxy Control extension. This is the built-in proxy manager. If you do not see it in your extension bar, check that your Ghost Browser plan includes it.
  • A FonProxy account with an active proxy. If you just want to try it, use the free test. Plans are on the pricing page.
  • A plan for which product to use.

Which product fits depends on the job:

  • Rotating residential with a sticky session. Good when you run many identities. You get one IP per identity for 15, 30 or 60 minutes, and you can pick the country in the username.
  • Static IP products (static/ISP, private, mobile per-IP). Good for long-lived accounts. Each IP has its own port and keeps its country for the whole rental period.

Get your FonProxy credentials

Open the FonProxy dashboard. Every proxy you own is one row — host, port, username and password. Hit Copy next to it and you are set.

  • Host & port — the same host for all proxies, a different port per proxy.
  • Username — your base username, with country or sticky-session suffixes if you need them.
  • Password — unless you added your IP to the FonProxy whitelist, in which case leave it empty.

Build the proxy login

Open the Proxies page in the FonProxy dashboard. The copy buttons there give you the full line in two formats:

  • host:port:username:password
  • username:password@host:port

These are the four values you will enter in Ghost Browser:

| Field | Example value | |---|---| | Host | fon.ac | | Port | 20001 (each proxy has its own port, starting at 20001) | | Username | u_4f1c92ab07de-t_30-s_iall27-c_us | | Password | YOUR_PASSWORD |

For rotating products, the username carries two optional parts after your base username (u_4f1c92ab07de):

  • Country: -c_us. Use any ISO country code, such as us, gb, de, br or jp. Leave it out to get an IP from any country.
  • Sticky session: -t_30-s_iall27. The number after t_ is how long the IP is held, in minutes (15, 30 or 60). The text after s_ is a session id you choose. Without this part, the IP changes on every request.

For an identity, always use a sticky session. Use a different session id for each identity, and pick the country that matches the account's region.

For static IP products, the username has no suffixes. Just use the base username and the port of the IP you want.

If you prefer not to send a password, add your own IP to the whitelist in the FonProxy dashboard. Then you can leave the username and password fields empty.

Add a proxy to an identity

In Ghost Browser you first add the proxy to Ghost Proxy Control, then link it to an identity.

  1. Click the Ghost Proxy Control icon in the extension bar.
  2. Choose Add/Edit Proxies. A settings page opens.
  3. On that page, click Add/Edit Proxies again, then click Add a Single Proxy at the top.
  4. Give the proxy a name you will recognize, such as fon-us-iall27.
  5. Enter the host fon.ac and the port, for example 20001.
    • For HTTP or HTTPS, enter the host as fon.ac.
    • For SOCKS5, Ghost Browser needs the scheme in the host field. Enter socks5://fon.ac.
  6. Enter your FonProxy username (with the country and session parts) and your password.

Where FonProxy values go

What filled proxy fields look like with real FonProxy values Example only — the field names change between antidetect browsers, but the FonProxy values stay the same.

  1. Click Add Proxy. The proxy now appears in your list.
  2. Open the Identity Manager from the extension tray and create an identity. Give it a name and a color.
  3. Open the Identities menu, find your identity, and click Set Proxy under it.
  4. Pick your FonProxy proxy from the drop-down.
  5. Click the plus icon next to the identity name to open a tab in it.

To switch the proxy later, click the proxy name shown under the identity and pick another one. Reload open tabs after a change.

Check the connection

Start with Ghost Proxy Control. Every proxy in the list has a Test button on its right. Click it. If the test fails, check the values before you go further.

Then check from inside the identity:

  1. Open a new tab in the identity.
  2. Visit an IP check site, such as browserleaks.com or whoer.net.
  3. Confirm that the IP is not your own and that the country is the one you set.

Ghost Browser also shows the current IP near the bottom of the right-click menu on a page when a proxy is applied. It is a quick way to check without leaving the site.

Many identities: import a proxy list

Adding proxies one at a time is slow past a handful. Ghost Proxy Control can import a CSV file.

  1. Open Ghost Proxy Control, choose Add/Edit Proxies, and go to the settings tab.
  2. Click Add Bulk Proxies.
  3. Click Export Proxy List. This downloads a CSV template that already has the right columns.
  4. Open the file. Add one row per proxy. Do not rename the columns or the file.
  5. Fill the name column for each row. If you leave it empty, Ghost numbers the proxies 1, 2, 3 and so on, which makes them hard to tell apart.
  6. Save the file, go back to the settings tab, click Import Proxy List, and pick the file.

Here are three FonProxy proxies to put into the template, one per row. Each uses the same port but a different session id, so each identity gets its own IP:

fon.ac:20001:u_4f1c92ab07de-t_30-s_gb01ab-c_gb:YOUR_PASSWORD
fon.ac:20001:u_4f1c92ab07de-t_30-s_gb02cd-c_gb:YOUR_PASSWORD
fon.ac:20001:u_4f1c92ab07de-t_30-s_gb03ef-c_gb:YOUR_PASSWORD

Split each line into the host, port, username and password columns of the template.

Ghost Proxy Control can also hand out proxies on its own. In the Auto-Assign Proxies section you can give each new tab or temporary identity the next proxy in the list, in order or at random. For saved identities that hold accounts, assign proxies by hand so each one keeps the same IP.

Match timezone, language and location

Sites compare your IP with what the browser reports. A US IP with a Berlin timezone looks odd.

Ghost Browser's help center does not describe an option that sets the timezone or geolocation from the proxy IP. So plan around it:

  • Pick the proxy country to fit the identity. If the browser runs on a machine set to UK time, a -c_gb proxy keeps things consistent.
  • Check the result. On an IP check site, compare the IP location with the timezone and language the browser reports.
  • Turn off WebRTC leaks. Go to Menu → Settings → Advanced → Privacy and switch on Disable WebRTC. Without it, WebRTC can show your real IP even behind a proxy.
  • Set a user agent per identity in the Identity Manager if you need identities to look like different devices.

Watch it in the app

The Ghost Browser team has an official video that walks through the same screens. Use the FonProxy values from the table above wherever the video enters proxy details.

Troubleshooting

| Symptom | Fix | |---|---| | Auth failed or 407 error | Copy the username and password again from the dashboard. Check for spaces. Make sure each suffix starts with a dash, as in -c_us. | | Timeout or page will not load | Check the host is fon.ac and the port matches your proxy. For SOCKS5, make sure the host field reads socks5://fon.ac. | | Wrong country | Check the -c_ code in the username. For static IPs, check you used the port of the IP you want. | | IP changes mid-session | Add a sticky session (-t_30-s_yourid). Without it, the IP rotates on every request. A longer t_ value holds the IP longer. | | Works on one machine, not another | You are using the IP whitelist. Add the new machine's IP in the FonProxy dashboard, or switch to username and password. |

Frequently asked questions

Can two identities share one proxy?

They can, but sites may link them. Give each identity its own session id or its own static IP.

Does the sticky IP survive after the session time ends?

No. After 15, 30 or 60 minutes you may get a new IP. For accounts that must keep one IP for weeks, use a static IP product.

Should I use HTTP or SOCKS5?

Both work. HTTP is the simpler choice in Ghost Browser because it needs no scheme in the host field.

Do I need to reload tabs after changing a proxy?

Yes. Reload the tabs of that identity so the new proxy is used.
