What a website learns from your IP
Privacy and identity
Every site you open sees your IP, your rough location, your ISP and your connection type. Over time this builds a profile.
Geo-restricted content
Many services decide what to show by the country or region of your IP. Checking it tells you what they will show you.
Security
Attackers scan IPs for open ports and weak services. Knowing what your address exposes helps you close it.

Why check my IP after connecting to a proxy?
To confirm the proxy works. The IP, country and ISP shown here should belong to the proxy, not to you. If you still see your own city, your browser or tool is not using the proxy.
Why does the location show a different city than the one I bought?
Location databases place IPs at the city where the provider registered or last saw them. Neighbouring cities and the capital are common answers. The country is almost always right; the city is a best guess.
How accurate is the map?
It shows the city, never a street or a house. The point is the centre of the city or postal area the sources agree on.
Why does my DNS show a different location than my IP?
Your device may still send DNS requests to your own provider. Route DNS through the proxy, or use SOCKS5 with remote DNS, and both will match.
What is an IP address and why does it matter?
It is the address your device uses on the internet. Every site you open sees it and uses it to guess where you are and which network you use.
Can websites identify me by my IP alone?
Not your name, but they can link your visits, see your city and provider, and combine that with cookies or a browser fingerprint.
Can I download the IP database?
Not from this page. For bulk lookups or licensing, write to support and tell us what you need.
